Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of communities. For those who haven't known about it may mistake it for an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. Early ambitions were to become a dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass every dance partner she had. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I surpassed my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the instance of Brugel, it was a suggestion from her high school teacher of drama. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out as Anne in their annual school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Through the years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on small and big screens drawing the most media attention after she was offered the role in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale the series filmed over ten years ago.
